Just yesterday in Drake’s interview with Much Music, he stated that himself and 40 would be heavily involved in the upcoming posthumous album for the late Aaliyah.
That news caused a stir and didn’t sit too well with many, being that the distinctive sound that Timbaland, Missy Elliot and Aaliyah coined as their own wouldn’t be heard again on the upcoming project. Or so we thought, right?
Earlier today in a recent interview with Billboard.biz, Jomo Hankerson, cousin of Aaliyah and founder of Blackground Records, spoke on how Timbaland and Missy will be a part of the album, appearing on unreleased material from baby girl. 40 and Drake were chosen to co-executive produce after Hankerson heard their “unique sound” on Alicia Keys’ The Element Of Freedom single “Un-Thinkable (I’m Ready).”
Now that longtime collaborators Timbaland and Missy Elliott will have a hand in creating the posthumous LP, will it have your full support for the project? Or are things still skeptical after this entire back and forth between the family? Let us know.
