A few days ago, at the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear Solid series, Kojima Productions announced a new MGS titled
“Ground Zeroes” as well as a movie in the works to be produced by Avi Arad. Attendees on hand were previewed to a 20 minute demo of the game that I didn’t expect to any of us to see this year. But in surprising fashion, today Konami released a 10-minute demo presentation giving us a world premiere to the give and a first look at the new Fox Engine to be used in the game.
Here we’re previewed to a real-time cut scene set (as expected ) in a prison camp where a little boy is held hostage with Snake coming to rescue. In the footage, there’s also APCs, helicopters, and some other vehicles shown. Hideo Kojima (creator of the franchise) stated at the Pax 2012 presentation, Snake will be able to take control and pilot every vehicle in the game making it a true open world experience. He also announced, Snake will be able to deploy a flare to call in a helicopter which he’ll be able to start new missions or side tasks also having the option of customizing music in the helicopter. A little grand theft auto’ish, but we likes!
Amazing what nearly 10-year old technology can still pull off with new engines right? Just makes it more exciting of what to expect in 2014 when with the next wave of consoles on deck.
Not sure if we’ll see any more information this year regarding the game but expect to see more news about the game in the future as I’m actually intrigued about this game.
