We couldn’t have asked for a better NFC championship game than the one we have on scheduled for today with the new look San Francisco 49ers traveling to the Georgia Dome and facing the number one seeded Atlanta Falcons.

Unlike our later matchup of the legends featured in the AFC, neither one of these two NFC finalists have won a Super Bowl together as with currently constructed pieces as these are by far the hungriest two teams left. Whether the winner wins the Super Bowl remains to be seen as some of us behind the scenes are picking the winner of the AFC to win it all but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy some insanely crazy pigskin action today.

San Francisco returns back to the NFC Championship game for the second consecutive year with new QB Colin Kaepernick leading the way as now with Alex Smith patrolling the sidelines, they seem ready to take the next step. The Falcons who won their first playoff under Mike Smith, look to reach Super Bowl XLVII with a win today at home.

Both John Abraham and Jonathan Babineaux have now been moved to probable and are more than likely going to suit up today while the Smith’s, Aldon and Justin have both been listed as probable as well. After beating Aaron Rodger and the Packers last weekend in convincing fashion, Colin Kaepernick has now become the no. 1 primary target of the Falcons after breaking the NFL playoff record for most rushing yards by a QB last week. With arguably the best defense in all of football, the 49ers finally have confident and versatile QB and are looking to take the next step to the promised-land.

Their task won’t be easy as the Falcons have dominated the 49ers their last four meetings as it’s their first meeting since the 2010 season. Atlanta is fresh off their almost embarrassing upset to the Seattle Seahawks as this week their defense is going to have to give their all against the surging 9ers.

Matt Ryan who’s been playing MVP caliber football will also have to do his all to relieve the Falcons defense who will have the biggest task today of any team hitting the gridiron to stop Colin Kaepernick. This game basically comes down the Falcons defense in our opinion as we should be in store for hopefully an instant NFC Championship classic.
