Unless you’ve been under a rock the past week, New York has been in an uproar musically because of Kendrick Lamar‘s verse on Big Sean‘s Hall Of Fame leftover, “Control.” Many rappers have come out of the woodworks to drop responses in defense of NYC, after taking offense to Dot’s line about being the king of NY at the moment.

In what may be the best comment on the state of New York hip-hop right now, Maino says the system in the tri-state has to be revamped to bring the city back to the forefront. He claims that NY stopped playing artists from the city and lost their own culture because all you hear in the club and on the radio are hot songs from other regions. He also argued that the new artists coming out, grew up when the South was at it’s peak, so they didn’t grow up with a NY sound and got their influence elsewhere because of it.

Truth be told, Maino kept it 1000% with this shit. NY, pay attention.
