50 years after the University of Alabama opened it’s doors to African American students to enroll, segregation is still alive and breathing.
Last month, a student was denied admittance to a sorority because of her race. Why did it come to light, instead of just brushed under the rug and regarded as just another incident? Because she’s the granddaughter of John England Jr., a member of the university’s board of trustees.

In order to raise awareness to the situation still going on in Alabama, the Mallet Assembly student group has organized many rallies throughout campus to prevent segregation among the Greek system to continue any further. It’s 2013 and people are still fighting for equality. Peep what some students are doing to combat racism in the clip above.
