The nominees for the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are in.
This year, acts like N.W.A., Nine Inch Nails, Green Day, Sting, Lou Reed, The Smiths, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Kraftwerk, Chic, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, the Marvelettes, the Spinners, Stevie Ray Vaughan, War and Bill Withers are all on the ballot. Some of these artists have been nominated before, but didn’t make the cut for previous classes. Only Nine Inch Nails and Green Day are first-time nominees, with criteria being that they released albums 1989 or earlier.
All of these artists and bands will get a vote from artists, historians and music industry insiders, but the public will also get the chance to cast their vote for their favorite. The acts with the most votes will be announced towards the end of the year and the ceremony for inductees in this year’s class will be introduced in a ceremony on April 18, 2015 in Cleveland, OH.
