When EMPIRE kicked off on FOX, nobody expected it to dethrone The Big Bang Theory
as the biggest show between 18-49 year old’s for the entire year. The hype just kept snowballing, until it turned into a smash hit, with the soundtrack going No. 1 on Billboard and everybody knowing the Lyon family like if they were part of the empire.

One of the main reasons for the success was Taraji P. Henson, who tells W Magazine for her cover issue that she didn’t even want the role at first. Plus, she was the one that handpicked Terrence Howard to play the part of Lucius. Imagine if Lee Daniels wouldn’t have listened to her?
Of course, Cookie didn’t look this good, but thanks to the July issue of W, we get to see more of her than what was shown in that board room meeting after she received the rose to commemorate the Lyon anniversary. Take a peak for yourself above.
