NBA: Boston Celtics at Orlando Magic
Last night’s NBA Draft was already one of the most surprising ones we had seen in awhile, and then this happened.
A deal that was only rumored throughout the day was agreed upon when Kevin Garnett waived his no-trade clause sending himself, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry to the Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics are now in full rebuilding mode as they will take back Kris Humphries, Marshon Brooks, Gerald Wallace, Keith Bogans & three first round picks in 2014, 2016 and 2018.

With these moves Boston has officially moved on from it’s big 3 era and onto the next phase in the franchise. From first glance it appears as though they really didn’t get a lot in return, but if you look at the potential of the future assets then they really came out on top. The motivation for the Nets to complete this trade is pretty obvious. They want to win right now and this gives them the chance to do this. We can’t even lie though it will be really weird not seeing KG and Pierce in those Boston green colors next season.
